I first started to play the violin at school when I was 8, with a very encouraging teacher called Joy Hester. She was always full of enthusiasm and lived up to her name, as she really put joy into music.
I started piano lessons at age 7, and was happy when I gained grade 8 piano at school, where I was the accompanist for shows and choirs.
I then studied viola at Trinity College of Music with Elizabeth Turnbull and Richard Crabtree. I also had quartet lessons with Nicholas Roth and Vera Kantrovitch. I gained my LTCL and FTCL performance diplomas while I was there, and then went on to Middlesex University to achieve a BA in Music Education with qualified teacher status.
Whilst living in London I worked as a freelance musician for symphony orchestras, pit bands and as a backing musician for recording studios. I enjoyed working for Essex County Council as a violin, viola and piano teacher then too.
In 1994 I came to Jersey, and worked as the viola specialist for the States of Jersey for 20+ years, travelling round the island's schools and working with the orchestras.
I am now concentrating on my own studio and living history music.
